The Teddie Cake

3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
3 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins
1 and a half cups oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix the sugar and oil until creamy, add the eggs. Combine the dry stuff, combine with wet stuff, add the apples, walnuts, raisins. Pour results into ring pan (grease and flour pan) and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Consume with vanilla ice cream.

This recipe was originally published in the 1973 New York Times magazine and based on my results last night it has aged well. :)

Needs up-dating

When was the last time you up-dated the birthdays on the right???? I think the list is incomplete.

The SK Roughriders won the Grey Cup.

Anybody want to bid on the Plate Auction sponsored by the Crowsnest Pass Chamber of Commerce? It's happening Sunday, December 2, 2007 in the Stone's Throw Cafe from 3-6pm, I believe the hours are. Twelve celebs painted the dozen plates up for auction, including Jessica as one of the celebs. The mayor was booked to paint but didn't show. I guess he was polishing one of his vintage automobiles parked alongside his corner home.

The SK Roughriders won the Grey Cup beating out the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The motion light jus came on next door. I wonder what walked down the back lane. I was too late checking it out.

It showed me there's a skiff of snow on the car. The helicopters keep patrolling. We think it's because there's no snow cover and you see just brown mountain meadows.

Yesterday when I walked the dog, we saw 7 big horn sheep across the Crowsnest River from us. The dog kept taking a look. I phoned a message to the Road Watch Program so someone could come and scare them up into the mountains. They were on the west end of the base of Goat Mt.

Well, it's bed time.

Did I tell you the SK Roughriders won the Grey Cup? When the team got back to Regina mid afternoon today, there were 15,000 fans on the football field and the temp was minus 31 with the windchill factored in. Oh, gawd!! I can just imagine the cold hands and feet in that crowd.

Had a really nice little vacation

Here are just a few of our 330 shots from our vacation. We had a great time, spent most of the time in the shade with the boy. he was not very happy about the sand at first, but slowly warmed up to it after about 4 days or so. The ocean.... that's another story! He first screamed his head off then pretty much just shut down. We had a little floaty thing for him with little holes for his legs. He would just hold the handle of it and not move a muscle! I think he was petrified!
Here's to many more posts on the family Blogger!

Some Plant Photos

So here's the challenge. I have no idea what kind of plant this is. It provided me with a seed a couple of weeks ago, I'm hoping to get a couple more, which I planted today. Perhaps I can grow another giant from the seed. This plant started out as a five or six inch, $0.99 potted plant from Ikea. The lower image is a shot of the flower.

Above is a nice photo of the flower on the Ginger plant. When it has bloomed the flowers are almost like tiny violets. I'll take another photo once it blooms.

I'm waiting for a friend , Sharon Jeeves, from Wolseley to drop in. She and her son are visiting relatives in Calgary.

I'd like to get sewing but don't want to drag everything out and muss up the dining room.

Summer Vacation

Ok, so not everyone will be taking the summer off to lie on the beach and soak in the gamma rays but what is everyone up to this summer? For my part, we will be spending a week in the greater Metro-Blairmore area at the end of July. What about you?

Relaxing on the "Homer" Sofa

Willow has discovered that the back of the sofa is almost as comfortable as the seat. From here she can keep an eye on what Ferguson is up to.

Ferguson Says Hello

Ferguson is the friendliest cat but he has a bizarre habit: he likes to lick hair. He'll hop up on the back of the sofa and lick your hair purring all the while. He's a guest with Willow and I while Elke sells her house.

Gee Mail Accounts

Does everyone understand why they need a gmail account to post to the blog? Google, what owns Gmail, bought Blogger and migrated the original Blogger id's to Gmail id's. Mom, I'm sure Jess or Steve will help you config your gmail account to get you back onto Blogger.

Happy Birthday Miles Seamus Atkinson!!!!

Well there he is folks! He was Born January 3 2007 at 10:43am. Jess and have just got home from the Hospital, a full 5 days after. Jess had to have 2 pints of blood added and was on a constant iv drip for extra fluids. Took a little more then we thought. But look at the rewards!
That was the most amazing and beautiful thing I have ever seen, that little guy made me cry! I'm off for now, back to Grandma's house where we will be spending the next two days, less steps!
